MySkills is an organization that helps Indian youth embroiled in underachievement in SPM and school dropping out. But chances are, you’ve never heard of it until now. MySkills ia a platform for underachievers and school dropouts to become somebodies and help collectively uplift the community’s socioeconomy status quo
MySkills is perhaps the only answer to prevent our youth from not only lagging behind due to underachievement and lack of school education but also to prevent these kids from succumbing to crimes by the virtue of joining gangs or on lone ranger mode. According to its research, MySkills found out that up to 10,000 students are dropping out of school before Form 5 every year and they’re predominantly Indians.
MySkills Foundation is inspired by the Australia’s Directory of Training under the Australian government’s Department of Education and Training. That blueprint is applied by MySkills Malaysia although not under the govt. We all know how much our govt ‘cares’ for the Malaysian Indian community.
MySkills intent in helping Indians who dropped out of school/conventional exams underachievers
MySkills was formed to help those students who dropped out from school and those with less than average grades.
The biggest challenge MySkills Foundation faces is ignorance. Indians don’t even know that such an organization, poised to help them, exists. Of course house must have Maharaja and Chakravarthy package but no time to seek out help to ameliorate our future of our community despite help being extant. The 2nd biggest ignorance is non faith of Indians in vocational, skills based fields; they feel that it is not glamorous and doesn’t give much coveted returns. If you think so too, you’re more than wrong.
Like Rajini said in the Devuda song ‘saakadai allum aalunga 4 naalu leave potta naari poghum ooru’ (if the people who clean sewer take 4 days leave, the whole nation will stink) , doctors, lawyers and engineers are needed but if the air con in their homes/offices get spoiled, they need electricians and repairmen to fix the AC. If the wiring in any building gets short circuit they turn to vocationally skilled people. Every job has its mausu (value).
MySkills will help even if you wanna migrate to First World countries
Who said only those in white collars are valued in developed countries?
In Germany and EU, those who get their fingers dirty repairing things, carpenters, garbage collectors and other skills and blue collar workers are more in demand and get more respect than those in white collar sectors. There, they don’t say, “Study hard or else you will become an ordinary garbage collector.” They say, “Study well to become the best garbage collector.” They don’t view any job as lowly because they know that the so-called lowly jobs are just as important as professional and so called prestigious jobs. Garbage collectors there are professional and innovate on environment friendly garbage disposal. They give their level best to make the world a more liveable place, working side by side with their white collar counterpart. They’re like the hospital cleaner in Vasool Raja MBBS – Kamal acknowledges his role in stopping germs from the outset. Blue collar workers there are provided with the technological platform to innovate.

Garbage collectors in Germany
Skills based jobs have a great future. Demand is growing in this field. Please don’t feel that just because you got poor results in SPM and thus left with only vocational options. Vocational courses also promise great potential and excellent opportunities in fields like engineering, manufacturing, medicine, construction and automotive. Parents too, don’t feel disheartened – your child isn’t stupid to fail to regurgitate what he/she memorized on test papers. His/her talent and interest lie elsewhere; recognise their individuality and take them to the of accordance path that is MySkills.
MySkills – where skills meet a dignified honest living
By acquiring skills based training and jobs via MySkills, our youth who are despondent and desperate can be quelled from getting into unsavoury and unlawful acts to meet monetary needs.
Any job that you do with effort and honesty is an honorable job – you’re not stealing or doing contraband. So, don’t feel down even when the society looks down on you due to you being an electrician/mechanic. If something connected with electric and automotive gets spoiled in their procurement, they’ll have to rely on your services. You can even start businesses with your skills and build your own empire. Have confidence and adhere to professional work ethics! Let your work be praised and build your life accordingly.
